Circles

Good morning folks. Quick post today. My stitching has consisted of sewing my bright circles.
My limited stash of brights was helped enormously by friend SUE from Kiwikids Page and her lovely friends from St. Leonards.....
The pile is growing..
And it always encouraging to lay out your progress....
I have been trying to turn a deaf ear to my drawing projects whilst getting  a go on with these circles, so I am going to listen this afternoon and indulge.
There is a new post on my art blog also......HERE is you wish to pop over.
As my Granddad used to say " see you when the weather breaks"

For The Love of The Olde...and Quilts Part Two

After Robyn Ginn's home we drove out to historic village of Drayton to a National Trust property the Royal Bulls Head Inn.
A lady called Margie had her vintage quilts displayed throughout the Inn.
Loved this quilt.....oh and the bed and furniture.
Another beautiful bed with Double Wedding Ring quilt.
How lovely is this crib and I was delghted to find this cute old bear friend.

At the top of these steep stairs was a bathroom with old tin bathtub. We were very glad we weren't the chambermaid having to negotiate them in a long dress and pails of hot water for guests!
Fiona discovered exciting lingerie of the period and of course mischief ensued lol!

We loved this quilt made from saving and repurposing tobacco pouches. The blocks are made of 3 pouches sewn together.

These little chairs were so pretty and were on wheels??
The work on this chair was gorgeous.....it was also low and we pondered getting up and down from it.
Some pretties in the parlour.

The old kitchen.....
Outside views...

It was such an interesting place and a credit to those hard working folk restoring it. Loved seeing all the vintage quilts as well.
We also visited a little exhibition of textile artists who were extremely talented  and the Toowoomba Quilters exhibition also wonderful  but silly me thought photos weren't allowed so no piccies.
I had the most wonderful day and fell into bed last night tired but extremely happy.
Huge thanks to my dear friend Fiona for being the loveliest tour guide.

For The Love of The Olde...and Quilts Part One

Yesterday I spent the day with my friend FIONA of BUBZRUGZ in her home town. Their annual celebration of the "Carnival of Flowers" in Toowoomba  also includes other interesting events.....including QUILTS! The top of my list was to visit well known Queensland quilter Robyn Ginn's home to see her wonderful quilts and listen to her impart her process and the stories behind some of her quilts. I warn....MANY PHOTOS!
The entrance to Robyns home.
We were told photos and touching was allowed! How cool was that. There were lots of quaint collections tucked away in every corner.....we loved this table behind the front door. Beautiful cross stitch....embroidery!

Look at how tiny these flying geese are....Fiona doing scale duty! Just thinking about how gave me a headache.
Loved this album of stitching and memories also in the entry.
Beautiful bed quilts all with Robyns wonderful needleturn and hand quilting adorning them.....

Wall quilts.....we loved these poppies....gorgeous!
The detail on this one was beautiful. The flower petals are a linen type fabric.

Fiona admiring this gorgeous reproduction quilt with Robyns twist.
There were quilts that draped....

Kept rocking horses warm.
This quilt was just stunning...sorry there was so much light some photos are not great.
We were amazed at these little hollyhock centres which were tiny log cabin blocks. Once again Fiona's little finger acts as scale guide.....incredible!
Robyns quilts are full of amazing embroidery and details that delight and surprise. Her process is very organic and evolve as she proceeds. She says she doesn't often plan any of her quilts out in entirety.

Some lovely displays....

I adored this beautiful Toymaker....
And Crazy patchwork quilt as well as this quilt of silks.

And some beautiful flowers to thrill us some more....
There was so much so see it was simply amazing. Very inspiring! Makes you proud to be a quilter and to share it with a friend.....wonderful!
Next we were off to the Royal Bulls Head Inn out at Drayton but I shall do Part 2 for that. If you are still with me thank you lol!
