Friday Roundup

Astonishingly another week has flown by.......filled with arty days and catching up with friends with stitching thrown in......
Although I must say ON STITCHING DAY......I stitched for everyone lol! Putting in a stitch for each one of them....so they could say they stitched as well. Too much  laughter and good food to work to hard!
However! 1797 is having the next row prepared.....so some progress was made.
And I am really hoping my papers last as they are looking a little worse for wear lol! Fingers crossed!
School pickup stitching got another Postcard done.....it's not really out of shape...it's sitting on a fold on the table runner....
I think perhaps I have 10 more to do....sounds better than 40 lol!
A little bit of Christmas has been happening....
My favourite blogging friends tree......always makes me smile.
A little kitchen corner....
And Christmas tree trimmed....

This wee tree goes on my coffee table each year.
The gorgeous tags were a gift from a friend many Christmases ago and the hand knitted stockings ......
A gift from my husband's Aunt. Sadly she passed away 2 weeks ago. She was the only sibling of dear FIL. They were an odd couple as Brother and Sister but both very particular in their own way....sad for Dad. Everything she did was done to the highest order.....amazing cook, beautiful sewer and knitter, a whizz at puzzles and crosswords, loved a naughty joke, a beautiful singer and a fine penwoman.....in fact she had a penchant for pens and wasn't above pocketing them if establishments left them lying around lol! Not because they were pretty but if they wrote nicely.
Her Christmas card was always the first one received on December 1st.....don't know how she arranged it.... but until she went into care she never missed and our card was never late! So I am very happy to have these little remembrances of her to include in my Christmas celebration each year.....and I can admit to missing that sticker covered envelope in my letter box on December 1st.

Keeping At It

I have pulled out my favourite Christmas boxes that contain my decorations.

They are sitting patiently under the tree waiting to be hung up for another Christmas.  I decided a little more low key this year....to be honest I have just felt too hot and out of sorts and not at all festive...... so only the favs this year are making an appearance.....no pressure or craziness for me! Although hubby says my "low key " is probably over the top for others lol!
I love these three.....critter loving St. Nick and an Irish and Scottish St.Nick....representing my ancestral heritage. I shall enjoy slowly greeting my favourites as the days roll on towards December.
My stitching time has been given over to keeping at my 1797 Revisted quilt and I have finished another row....yippee!
I can now start the process of adding to the width and corners.
So time for another light row....more basting!
I have also read another good book.....I wasn't sure if it would appeal as it was a different genre for an author I enjoy, Fiona McIntosh. BUT....couldn't put it down!
I was surprised as I don't usually read crime novels.......goes to show you really can't judge a book by its cover!
That's me caught up.

A Little Something

I have been working away on 1797 with one side on the brown row done and scooting down the other side.
So not very exciting for you to see.....but lovely to stitch.
Now my "Little Something " was 2 little drawings for you to play with.....HOWEVER! As I no longer use my old computer I had all manner of issues trying to share them so you could print them from my laptop. As I don't at the moment have the time or if I am honest the patience ...... I am posting pics of them and if you click on the photo you should be able to save the image and print them that way if you wish.
Sorry about the unprofessional offering but please know that I created them in the spirit of giving and friendship.....and I wanted them to be able to be stitched for Christmas if you so desired....so hence my little roughies!
The first is a hats off to my poor ravaged homeland.....pudding and gum leaves...and a wee koala.
The second a little "gingie" for my gingie fans....it's been a while!
I do hope they can be useful to you to stitch for yourself or a friend....a little thank you from me for popping in to visit and leaving me lovely comments....enjoy!
That's it for me today.....my "in house" baker has called....freshly baked scones.....hubby is getting very accomplished at these.
Oh and piping hot coffee.....bliss!
Spoilt much!

Sunday Stitchers November

Yesterday we gathered for our November meeting. Marilyn did a wonderful job with our morning tea theme. One very close to our hearts....
Amputee Awareness....who choose the colour green.

Morning tea was very delicious!
Maria's darling little Granddaughter through contracting Sepsis is now amongst this group. So as I said,  close to our hearts.
All of the girls contributed a book we thought this little champion would like and delivered them into Maria's safe hands for her.
We will all continue to pray for her and send her all the healing love we can gather.
There was only a small number of show and tell but quality was Queen!
Cheryls beautiful and happy cot quilt.
Helen's tiny but very sweet wool embroidery.
Inca's WIP is just gorgeous and such an amazing amount of work with more to come.
Tatyanas beautiful as always Christmas cross stitch. We were sad also to say goodbye to Tatyana as she and her family are moving interstate for work. I wish them the very best in their new home.

I worked away on my 1797Revisted quilt.
Cannot quite believe next gathering Santa will be arriving!
My other sewing over the weekend was to make some koala paw mittens for wildlife carers, who are caring for our koalas burnt in our horrific bushfires. They were in dire straits before this happened.......so sad for humans and wildlife both!
So all there ties are now sewn on and in the post this morning. When I drew this piece called Precarious Real Estate.....I never realised just how "precarious "!
So hoping for a better week this week folks....so have a good one.

FNSI November

I got started a little late for our Blogging sew in hosted by the lovely WENDY at Sugarlane Quilts.....thank you Wendy.
I had a little bit of binding to sew on  Secret project.....
That done I finished another Postcard.... slow going now....or maybe it's me!
I finished these bits and bobs early and then was seduced by the dark side ...... my pencils.....and a sweet little Fairy Penguin!
So I spent the rest of my evening with them.......*sigh
I hope you enjoyed your Friday night too......whatever you did.

Busy, Happy Days

Not a lot of sewing has been done these past few days as I have been out at the Mt Cootha Botanical Gardens for the Queensland Wildlife Artists Society exhibition.
Which you can read about HERE****
I love our Botanical Gardens......a walk around is always a must...bottle trees .....my home town is renowned for them!

I always visit these two charming chaps....entitled the "Butterfly Chasers"

I do have a hope that one day my yellow Clivia will deliver some blooms like this *sigh
Even though it is very dry, lots of swathes of delicate colour to admire...

And my favourite.....the Sacred Lotus pond.....
Here is what I had been stitching before I went up the garden path....next round on 1797Revisted quilt. It is taking huge amounts of willpower not to get distracted lol!

I think perhaps today I shall be doing a bit of what my bronze friend is doing...
Bye....
