Passing the Baton

It was hard not to feel pride in the little people who solemnly laid their handmade wreaths yesterday at their schools 'Garden of Rememberance' and when all their young voices sang our National Anthem.

It was very moving to see. We were attending the Anzac Day commemoration service at two of our Grandchildren's school.
Our eldest Grandson sang beautifully in the choir and he and his grade recited a beautiful piece. All the children did a wonderful job and were so good and all so engaged....not a peep out of any of them.

Lest we forget.

A Bit of This and That

I do hope you all had a very Happy Easter and perhaps managed a stitch or two as well.
Mine was quiet and relaxed with some family time sprinkled in....the Easter bunny was very generous and left some favourites!
And some happy smiles from the  Grandies who stayed in town.....
I worked some more on Ruth's quilt and I am now over half way.
I am pleased with my personal extra tags....

At night I have been slowly adding to my 1797 Revisted quilt.
And ever so slowly I have made it down one side and around the corner.
Not too far from finishing this round now.
I was hoping to give my Clamshells some love as well but it didn't happen. Definitely on my list next.

FNSI

*WENDY* from Sugarlane Quilts gathered us together for an Easter Sew-in last night.
I had a bit of a Sew-in Day. I started by doing a little assembly of my NO FUSS STITCH-A-LONG from last year Ruth's quilt. I know this looks messy but it is organised chaos!
I did get several rows together before I  needed a break and my pencils called.
I have to take it a bit easy because long periods cutting and sewing gives my neck grief. I was pleased with my progress and hope to do more over the weekend.
After playing in my journal for a bit and  making sure that the Hot Cross buns passed quality control, I decided that my Friday night project would be to applique a few more love hearts for my little girls.....some the same and some especially for their tastes.
Six more for the pile.
Oops! Should have pressed before photos lol!
Anyway I had a very happy creative kind of day whilst Mr. R. caught up on some sporty tv viewing.
I hope you are enjoying your Easter break....ours is quiet and very showery so relaxation is easy.
Happy Easter.
Thanks Wendy for hosting us again.
Thanks also to Pauline from Happy Retirees Kitchen for your lovely comments. I was unable to respond due to your No reply setting x

Easter Favourites

I have a few Easter Favourites that I like to decorate with each year and I thought
I would get them out so as to enjoy them for a while.
My favourite runner and ancient bunnies along with a more recent one.
Last year I drew up and  stitched an Easter mini for my stand....
A couple more little collectables...

Hopefully that will be enough to tempt the bunny in to leaving us  some eggs!
Friend Sandra gifted us all a cutting from her Plumeria also known as Temple Tree which she had potted up for us.....mine has taken forever to grow but I was encouraged that it kept on doing that even if it was slow.....but delightful surprise.....I actually have a flower......
Yay! That's what I love about a garden....even a small and often neglected patch like mine.....it can always surprise you.
That's it from me today.....Happy Birthday Gaye xxx

Postcards

I have been enjoying personalising my postcards but I must admit....lots of time is spent pondering and planning. I have two completed so far for this month.
I wanted an opal looking thread for this one. I found CGT Maple worked really well.
Because I am a bit all over the shop in which places get designed and stitched, it's a bit hard to get the blocks together. I am trying to pair places together. Still a few are coming together.

So far three are joined in the top row.....almost had two cameras together and that would have really annoyed me lol!  So for now THAT  one is hanging about waiting for some friends.
On Thursday my littlest Granddaughter did a community performance with her dance group....she has only been going a couple of months......supergirls was the routine! They were sooo cute!
It's so heartwarming to see....especially when we were told when she was a baby that she may not be able to do much physically......she's our Supergirl!
I've been playing in my journal this weekend and I am off to grab a cuppa and go and play some more. You can see what I have been up to lately **HERE

Stitching Day

Today, stitching was at my place. With many away we were a  very small group but as always enjoyed each other's company, had a laugh and actually did some stitching.
In line with my philosophy to use all that I have (nothing is considered tooo SPECIAL) pretty cups got their turn at holding our cuppas......after all if time with dear friends is not a special occasion I don't know what is!
I love lemon anything and so I topped freshly  baked cupcakes with lemon icing and indulged in a little early Easter treat for good measure.
I worked away on my next postcard stitchery....sorry not much to see yet!
The day sped by as they always seem to do when you are in good company.

My little pile of I Spy hearts is growing. They are so enjoyable to stitch.....even with two of each.
My plan is to have a goodly pile to show when next my eldest Granddaughter visits.....she will be monitoring my progress very closely lol! So can't be seen to be slacking off!

Friday Night With Friends April

CHERYLL gathered us together for our April online sew in last night.
Mine was a night of preparation. Not thrilling but always necessary. The first thing I wanted to organise was the next set of Postcards for Romancing the Roadtrip quilt. So my notes were consulted and drawing and tracing were done ready for stitching.
Earlier in the afternoon I chopped up a whole lot of background blocks.....

These are to be used for two I Spy quilts for my little Granddaughters. Instead of squares I am making the I Spy aspect in "Love hearts " as they both love them.
Next was choosing and tracing some hearts to begin.
My gorgeous girls have tastes world's apart and so whilst some blocks will be the same, lots will be chosen specifically for their particular fancies.
I finally settled myself down to start some of the applique.
BOTH LOVEEEEE CAKE lol!
I enjoyed getting three blocks finished.
So happy to be making these for my girls.
A Facebook giggle....
Enjoy your weekend.

Wednesday Stitching Day

Today our stitching day was held at friend Anne's lovely home. Pretty China and lots of energy giving nibbles to help us stitch, chat and solve the world's problems.
Anne's delicious Lemon Thyme cake was ohhh so good!
I have the nicest friends....Bev surprised me with these lovely vintage looking hydrangeas after I had admired hers.....and they have found the perfect spot to call home....Love them!
Also today some lovely show and tell from Lorel and Sandra.
Lorel kept me company when we stitched Ruth's quilt. Hers is now complete and it is beautiful in pretty Tilda fabrics.....also featuring lovely quilting from FIONA I love this quilt it was so enjoyable to stitch....hope to get mine together soon.
Sandra has made the sweetest baby quilt .....it is in such happy colours and fabrics....also beautifully hand quilted. We all loved the backing fabric with all its lovely sayings.
I worked on my 1797 Revisted quilt, getting the next round stitched on.

It was a very nice day.....and as I have expressed many times, I love the word nice. Many think it is a bland word but NOT me........"nice" to me is a feeling of ease and comfort that gives me joy.....a favourite way to be!
Thank you friends xx
The No Fuss Stitch a Long blocks for Romancing the Roadtrip  were due for March and I have to say I was a teeny bit late but got there eventually. MARCH Postcards....
