Hearts!

I have a lovely nice pile of little hearts growing for each of my girls.....
The top ones have their initials on them.
These are the latest to add to the pile.....
They are just so cute.....
More in the tin ready to go!
Another Postcard done also....number 3 for this month!
I am working on number 4 but as there is only today and tomorrow, I think that I shall be slinking in the back door again lol!
The lovely thing about this stitch-a-long.....is NO PRESSURE!
Have a lovely day folks.

FNSI MAY and Another No.6

We were catching up on our postponed Friday Night Sew In last night. Over at WENDY'S .....hope you are feeling much better now Wendy  x
As I am a bit  behind with my Postcards that was my choice for the evening's stitching. The 2nd for the month got completed.....
And I  began on No.3.....but then this happened!
I could have sworn that I had one more skein! Searched high and low...no joy! So that put paid to my Postcards for the night.
However that gave me the opportunity to try out some little clam shells in rosy fabrics I had been wanting to stitch.....so I chopped and basted until bedtime.
Happy stitcher! Working on my Clamshells is supposed to be my UFO CHALLENGE for May but I suspect that didn't mean play with brand new little ones....oh dear!
My Granddaughters are 4 weeks apart in age and so.....another big Number 6 celebration was in order. My youngest little girl's favourite place is the Pancake Manor.
Down the hatch lol! I honestly don't know where she puts it! Birthdays are always nicer with family.....We were laughing about the boys....no pancakes for them when there are hot chips....sheesh!
Was very delish!
We have another Grandie birthday in a fortnight....I am sure some of you have  birthdays grouped together like this lol! Thank goodness I love cake!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Sunday Part 2 Sunday Stitchers May

We gathered for our May Sunday Stitchers meeting on Sunday. Mothers Day was our theme. The morning tea girls did a beautiful job and we all bought a shared plate for lunch.
Our birthday girl was Tatyana....that cake was pretty terrific!
Sandi gave us a sweet gift.....almost too pretty to unwrap.
But I  forced myself lol! A gorgeous notebook.....
May was also our meeting for gathering our supplies together  for our toiletry bags we had made for a women's shelter for the homeless.
Packing and filling the bags.....
The completed bags....
My bag....we also bought along undies and socks to pop in side.
Show and Tell for our UFO CHALLENGE No. 5
Finally my Ruth's quilt is together!
Helen's lovely bucket and pin cushions.
Susan's baby quilt and Alison's quilt for her hubby.
Inca's very cute and lovely little pouch....it was like a tapestry stitching on the front.
Once again a very enjoyable day and one that we  can hopefully cheer others with.
Thanks girls!
Our UFO CHALLENGE No is
Which for me is working on my Clamshells.
If you have made it to the end thank you....bit of an epistle this time.
A Nana Carter Quote to finish.......

Sunday Part 1 Brisbane Bike Ride

This post is mainly for me and to record for posterity. These are some photos captured of my Son's charity ride Sunday morning in the Great Brisbane Bike Ride.
Bleary eyes and very early start.
Cruising....
Slogging it up Mt Cootha!
Nearly there....
Over the line at last. Took about 5 and a half hours.
Over 1800 riders took part in the ride. Circle of "Smiling for Smiddy" group reflecting on the reason they all rode.
And two of his biggest supporters.....
Job well done!

Out and About

It's been a week of being out and about. Hubby and I took advantage of a Mother's Day gift and headed off to the movies early in the week....my choice!
Which was....
Lovely film and we enjoyed the music and seeing landmarks in the Northern Territory that we had visited.
Other here and there's happened, that took time but not very interesting enough to share.
Today we hedged our bets with these moody clouds looking threatening....
And joined our family for fish and chips down at the Bay to celebrate Mr R.s birthday.
I made cupcakes and we sang happy birthday much to his embarrassment lol!
The kids loved it!
Lots of fun....photopbombers and playground action.
We also got a walk in out along the jetty....I do love the mosaics along the way.
This may seem not a terribly exciting place to some.....but to us it's our special, happy family place and we always love being together here. The weather held and we even had a few rays of sunshine....so we were blessed!
I have been stitching....working away on my Clamshells and trying to catch up on my Postcards....last one for April....just finished and the first one for May just started.
Tomorrow our Son is doing another bike ride for cancer research.
Which involves riding up and down Mt Cootha.....no easy feat over 100kms. We would like to thank all of you who have once again supported his efforts to raise funds for this cause that he is so passionate about. Once again thanks to family and friends generosity he has exceeded the entrance donation level. So if you happen to be awake tomorrow morning at stupid o'clock please give him a thought and a prayer.
That's it from me. A nice hot cuppa (all I can fit in after lunch) awaits.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend folks.

Slow Stitching

Seems to be my way of being of late....I am really enjoying focusing on my little girls
Hearts I Spy and my Clamshells.
The piles of cute hearts are growing...
Some the same...
Some different and individual....
And I am sure that Batman never expected to be in a 'love heart' as they are referred to lol!
All this wonderful variety is thanks to very generous friends, sharing.....making for a much more exciting quilt for each little girl.
It occurred to me whilst working on my Clamshells, the incredible amount of choice of beautiful fabrics available to us today. I am working in only one style....vintage/reproductions and the variation in amazing. This variety that keeps me so interested is also due to the generosity of lovely friends....this quilt is definitely a FRIENDSHIP quilt.
As you can see the length is growing! 30 rows under the needle.

Ok I am off to enjoy a coffee with my new magazine. Which you can read about on my Art Blog **Here**
Have a lovely weekend.
