Towards The Border

No internet coverage means you are in for a double dose....part one and part two.
We travelled up through outback Queensland with overnight stops along the way.
Longreach sent some beautiful Brolgas to greet us in the morning.
I spent my birthday at the Blue Heeler hotel and campground at Kynuna.....very interesting and quite a rustic experience. Lets just say that I feel quite the proud housecleaner after the event lol! Great pub though established in 1886.
Our next brief stop was in Mckinlay....where Crocodile Dundee was filmed....Hoges wasn't in no matter how hard Mr R. pretended lol!

It was too early for a beer so we had coffee on the verandah instead.

We then headed off again and  said g'day to Mt Isa for our daughter,  she used to call it home.
On to Camooweal near the Northern Territory border. I loved this tribute to our Aussie stockman and women.

We had a very nice and welcome cuppa here.
Just down the road aways we hit the NT  border....
This road is so straight the speed limit is lifted....we did NOT go that fast.
We encountered lots of seasonal burning off as we drove the seemingly never ending Barkly Highway.

We stayed at Barkly Homestead......it is like an oasis in the desert. We were rewarded with a beautiful sunset and a night sky sparkling with stars.
They do call us Aussies a "weird mob" because these colours just stir some of our hearts.....I am definitely in that category.
Finally we hit the Stuart highway.....big turn right and off towards Darwin. Our first stop was at Renner Springs so named after a big cattle station there. Great country meal.
They didn't have guard dogs they had cranky guard geese, who told you off on a regular basis lol!

If  you are still with me I applaud you. Next post Daly Waters.
Namaste and Blessings Michelle xxx

  4. I'm with you on the colors. Sometimes, living in wet and very green Tennessee now, I really get tired of all the endless green. LOL Thanks for the photo of your rig! I was wondering what your tow vehicle was and what the caravan looked like.
