Rainy Day at Mt. Tambourine

Yesterday we traveled up to Mt Tambourine to celebrate our Son's birthday. We went to the Bavarian Grill Haus for lunch. Warning: photo heavy!
It was a bit cool and rainy but this lovely fire kept up warm as toast!
Cake and Candles and very bad singing were the order of the day.
Miss E got right into cake eating mode...delicious cake!
A rare quiet moment with these two rascals...
Luckily I have got TWO knees lol! My gorgeous girls.
Great interest in the water feature....
"Is it a real kangaroo Nana?" Lol!
Lovely outlook on to the little lake.
I wanted to bring this rustic table home with me...
Fun time with the family. It was great to celebrate with our Son and not beside a hospital bed! We all went home with very full tummies.
Stitching was called for ...... Blessings no.6 DONE!
No.7 BEGUN!
Only 3 more blocks to go.
I shall be working on Splendid Sampler blocks today....the prep is done.
Enjoy your Sunday folks.

Brrr! Road Trip.

Whilst we are not nearly as chilly as our southern neighbours it is chilly enough for yours truly. Yesterday with hubby as chauffeur we took a flying visit up the range to damp and very cool Toowoomba so I could collect my quilt from my lovely friend Fiona from BubzRugz  We met for Coffee and a bit of a chat at a lovely cafe....warm too!
Fiona had a surprise visitor for me....Miss Chooky and family. So lovely to catch up ....definitely not long enough as time was short lol! Chooky escaped before a pic so luckily I have an oldie lol!
So nice to see you in real time! Hubby also discovered  that we bloggers perhaps aren't all axe murders after all lol!
Here's a sneaky of what I collected...
Beeeeutiful!  I am thrilled with it. Shame you have to wait a wee while. Sorry!
Stitching has been happening....a little secret stitching...
I am using CGT Dog Rose. Oh it is pretty!
Splendid Sampler block number?....I forget! But I loved it! 2 more lovely ones waiting in the wings and right up my street too!
Rainbow Scrap Challenge for July was Watermelon colours...
Prettier in real life!
I am all set with my 1 inch papers just need to finally decide on the other medallions for Brinton Hall. .......decisions!
Yesterday was also special as it was no 1 Son's birthday...
Happy birthday Lucas and lots of love xxx
Thats it from me.....BTW is anyone else having issues with Blogger taking FOREVER to publish your post. It says its published but unless you go searching for my blog does not appear for ages...interested to know??
Have a great weekend....stay warm and safe if you are here in OZ!

Sunday

Today I caught up on the two pieced blocks from Splendid Sampler.
Block 40 Flights of Friendship....
Block 42....Pencils. Of course I loved this one!
Bit messy but at least my pencils are sharp. Lol!
I chose a day of drawing in my journal Friday as it was the day of the revolving door...you know the kind...drop this off here, pick up the husband here....back out to collect this and that. So my journal was a nice respite in between trips.
I chose a couple of pretties fom my poor neglected garden.
My versions...
The lavender smelled beautiful while I was drawing it.
I am off to prep the Splendid Sampler hexie block and then I will be "almost" up to date....until tomorrow lol!
Enjoy the rest of your day.

"Cosy" Freebie.

I thought that you lovely folks may enjoy a free little friend to warm your heart in this chilly weather we have been having....
His name is "COSY" and he is snug and warm in his little winter mitten.
If you would like to download him, he is on my sidebar under my Sketchpad. I hope you have fun stitching my little cute friend.
Another cute little friend is "Pudding Ted" and he has had his little revamp now and is heading down to my LQS Quirky Quilts at Springwood.
He does look very cute stitched in Mistletoe by Country Garden Threads even though I love him in DMC 816.
My 1 inch papers have arrived so I am trying to decide whether I want to work on them or do a bit of drawing.....gee I love having these problems...so blessed!
Have a lovely weekend wherever you may be.

Busy!

I seem to have been very busy of late attending to chores very sewing unrelated.
We have long wanted several nuisance Cocos palms removed from our back fence area as they are extremely messy, huge and not healthy for wild life......so!
Down they came!
You know I am a huge fan of people who do their job well, with honesty and integrity!  These chaps knew their stuff.
These trees were huge and there is very little room between the back fence and our pool....nothing suffered in anyway! Thanks Murray!
My other job has been decluttering what I had carried halfway around Australia in our old van and repacking our new one....more efficiently I hope!
Took me awhile with more sore knee. Talk about Hop a long Cassidy!
Sewing wise I have been doing a bit on Blessings, so I won't bore you with that.
Thanks so much everyone for your advice and input re gluing hexies.
I have bitten the bullet and glued and stitched the second medallion in Brinton Hall.
All has stalled until more 1 inch hexies arrive. Watching impatiently for the postie!
A very chilly breeze has come upon us so I am off to get the fire alight and cook up some warming pasta for dinner.
Something to ponder. Stay cosy all.

FNWF

July has arrived and it was time for
A little rest was in order from hand quilting. I have been wanting to begin Brinton Hall and last night gave in! So I  hung up my old dinosaur suit behind the door and actually "glued"......yes people you heard correctly I actually glue basted the hexies!
Certainly is quicker and easier on the fingers.....but I am not sure whether I liked it or not. I was also not sure whether I put to little or too much on....yikes!
Anyway I stitched my first crown together and got it appliqued on.
Needs a good press but there again I was unsure if you can press when you have glued? Anybody? Help???
Not to be a whimp I have glued the 2nd set and begun stitching.....love this set.
And wouldn't you know it. I only have 50 x 1 inch hexies and need a lot more so only a little more progress possible while I wait for the new hexies to arrive.
I am so excited to have started this quilt. I have loved it from afar for so long.
Meanwhile I shall do a little work on block 6 of Blessings.
You can pop over to Cheryll's HERE to see what everyone was up to.
Have a relaxing weekend.

Quilty Progress

I finally feel as if I am progressing with my hand quilting. I have been pondering why this quilt was left unfinished as I have quietly quilted away. As I  lay it down to take these photos I realised why. I had run out of material and had to make do on the large border and wasn't at all pleased after all my work. So I just put it aside in annoyance. Perhaps I shouldn't have finished it as I did but this quilting journey is full of lessons. Especially don't rush just to be done! However now I have decided that I shall just have to live with the rushed decision way back when and appreciate the work I did do. Much better completed than not! And it's warmth is not diminished as a quilt. I am now up to quilting the "horrid" border with the centre medallion and corners quilted.
There is something about cream fabric and little quilting stitches that makes me very happy indeed.
Another little Splendid Sampler block is finished....sweet basket.
Block 39 was another foundation pieced block so I opted out and just did a little applique instead.
Another block came out today. I never thought I would EVER say....thank goodness it is just piecing lol! Must be learning something!
Personally, yesterday was a very good day. Our sons Petscan came back clear. Despite the setback of the unrelated thyroid cancer before Christmas this result means 12 months free of the Melanoma. We pray these good results continue.
It has been a fraught 12 months for us all especially our Son and DIL. Their courage and humour has helped us all......so we are enjoying the happy this week!

Choose kindness and love whenever and wherever you can.
