We travelled further west today to the old gold town of Charters Towers. As it wasn't too long a drive we set out on a little exploring expedition after we set up.
I loved all the old buildings in town. Some still standing gracefully amidst modern surrounds.
We stumbled on to this little piece of history quite by accident. The Miners Cottage.
What fun we had. Owner Allen was not only a fountain of knowledge about the towns gold mining history but a huge character and had us giggling and guessing about his many collected curiosities. The cottage is jam packed with all manner of things....history and collectables. Thank you Allen.
We drove up to Towers Hill Reserve for a view over the country side.
Pretty roses in this memorial garden in town.
We certainly did not expect to experience so much in one afternoon.
I have to say I like Charters Towers and is on our list for a more dedicated trip to this area later down the track.
Well folks that's about it for now....phew I hear you say lol!
Happy Father's Day to all those wondeful and caring men out there who choose to make a difference in their childrens lives by raising them with love and dedication.
Namaste and Blessings Michelle xxx

Those buildings remind me of towns in the goldfields of central Victoria! Pyramid Rock is quite amazing, you must have a lot of stamina.

Some beautiful buildings there Michelle and the Miners cottage is full of fascinating items - looks like a place to spend hours. xx
ReplyDeleteI am with Jennifer, those buildings are like Victorian goldfields places. The miners cottage was a great find. Beautiful roses in the park.
ReplyDeleteA lot of beautiful buildings, no doubt due to the prosperous mining industry the town once enjoyed. On my list for sure!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your last photo and thoughts. A wonderful town, and what unexpected fun. Even your wild plants look like southern Arizona weeds. =)
