We just love a little road trip and today I satisfied my hankering to visit the Tweed River Gallery which encompasses the Margaret Olley Gallery. Margaret Olley has long been an Australian artist that I love. Her beautiful work always fills my heart with joy! Her home/studio with a myriad of her possessions was bequeathed by her to the gallery and has been reconstructed in the gallery just as she left it.
You would swear that she had just left the room. She was a woman after my own heart...who cares about housework when there is creating to be done!
Her only interest was having close at hand things, that she could make a pleasing grouping of to paint.
The photos I took of her "Yellow Room" which she painted many times was too blurry...sorry!
Unfortunately no photos allowed of her art but I took a couple from my book. I adore her riot of colours!
and oh oranges!!!
The lady herself in her Yellow room....
The Gallery and Cafe sits atop a hill...
with marvelous views across the Tweed River and Mt Warning...
This was our view from our lunch table in the Cafe... yours truly feeling very happy with herself!
Unfortunately because of burn offs in the valley Mt Warning was not too clear.
I really loved this bird sculpture in the grounds...
as well as beautiful native blossom...
and just to show you I did not actually go alone.....my beloved rocking out on the way in the car LOL!
This was a truly lovely experience and our lunch was so very delicious.....if you feel like a visit you can find it at 2 Mistral Road Murwillumbah...Just follow Tweed Valley Way off the M1.
Loved you Margaret and you have left us such a beautiful legacy.... hope you have enough light wherever you are now xxx
Namaste and Blessings,
Michelle xxx
