My treasure today is very simple and is not an old treasure but a new one. As you know I cannot resist a lovely book especially if it has beautiful photographs. Last week this beautiful book that I ordered arrived.
It is called "Elegant Quilts, Country Charm" by Leonie Bateman and Deirdre Bond-Abel.
It has beautiful projects inside and is a treat just to browse through while sipping a cup of coffee, curled up in your favourite chair. I don't know if I will ever get time to make any of the projects which seems to be my lot in life lately but for now I am treasuring the possiblities.
Speaking of not completing projects I saw on the gorgeous Peg's blog her Friday Night Stitching with Friends project, the beautiful Leanne May pattern "Beyond the Garden Gate" that she was working on. I thought to myself "I love that pattern" and then " you have already started that pattern" so a rifle through boxes and bags revealed this moment of shame.....
Six blocks already completed, one block in progress and only two left to stitch. So I am going to make a concerted effort to fit a stitch or two on this project until they are finished. Thanks so much peg for reminding me what a gorgeous pattern it is.
Speaking of lovely people my blogging friend from up "the Mountain" the lovely Fiona from Bubzrugz sent me some gorgeous red fabric with my beautiful birthday gift this year and I have been dying to play with it. So over the weekend I did. Just a little sneaky though as it is for a special little project.
Don't you just love red!!!
Well here in Australia today is the running of our most famous horse race the Melbourne Cup.
Whilst I love horses and think they are such beautiful creatures, I always worry about them in these racing situations....I know I am probably the only Aussie to feel this way and even feel a tad unpatriotic saying it but it is truly how I feel. If one of these beautiful animals could tell me "Hey it's fine we love it" I would feel better but as they can't I will continue to worry.
Anyway if you are having a get together to watch the race in all your finery and have a little wager I wish you a fun filled day.
Don't forget to pop over to Melody's to see who else has treasure to share.
Blessings Michelle xxx

That looks like a wonderful book, Michelle! I LOVE your stitcheries, I'm plugging away on several projects, we'll just take our time and enjoy the journey, ok? That red fabric is so yummy. And Michelle....shhhhh...I feel the same way you do about the horsies....
ReplyDeleteOh dear, I think we all have at least one moment of shame tucked away. It's too pretty to not finish it. By the way, the satin stitch heart on your secret sewing looks absolutely perfect! I think if I were a horse I would prefer to be wandering around a green paddock at my leisure......but who knows.
ReplyDeleteLove those stitcheries. :) The red fabric is gorgeous. Hugs,
ReplyDeleteI agree completely about the races - I worry about the horses too and don't like to see them hit. I'd much rather sew than go to the races.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a gorgeous book Michelle...and, hey there is no moment of shame I reckon....I bet you'll breeze through these now!
ReplyDeleteThe book looks great. It is a lot of fun looking and reading and dreaming. The red fabric looks fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThe book looks like eye candy - extraordinary - Enjoy browsing.
ReplyDeleteThe Garden gate is gorgeous - look forward to seeing yours done - mine is very bright!
Melbourne Cup day is really just an excuse to stay home and sew.
Your stitchery looks fantastic.. it will be a wonderful project when it's finished! AND fancy you making something in red and white...
ReplyDeleteLove it! :)
Beautiful stitching, I like the colours of it and a great book you buy, enjoy it.

ReplyDeleteFiona
that looks like a great book Michelle and boy you are so close to finishing those stitcheries,it will be nice for you to have a UFO finished.Love that sneak peek.xx
ReplyDeleteI like the look of that book. I I would love to find the time to curl up in a comfy chair to flip through the pages.
ReplyDeleteYou are not the only one with half finished projects.
Books are always a treasure but doubly so when they have pretty pictures in them.
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky that you can forget things you started. All my half finished things are firmly rooted in the front of my mind and I feel constantly guilty!
Just so you won't worry to much. I thank if they could talk they would say (they don't mind it so much. Its better then being in war and being shot at).
ReplyDeleteWhatever they're purpose for being put here they are doing a fine job.
