I am still working away on my basket block and have the basket completed and I am on to the flowers and the little booklet which started this whole love affair with Baltimores in the first place. The other thing I loved about these quilts were the ruched flowers. I love making them. This block has one and I have three to do on a remaining block.
I think I fell in love with them when I had to make many for a quilt I did at a workshop. At first I was terrified but when I finally got the hang of it I loved them. I think they give such lovely added dimension to a design.
You can see why I got over the fear can't you....there were heaps on this quilt. I also got the hang of little suffolk puff flowers as well. I mean teeny tiny suffolk puff flowers.
Oh! I nearly forgot. I better tell you the winner of the May Giveaway.......
Congratulations Maria!!! If you can let me have your snail mail address I shall pop your goodies in the post to you. Thank you everyone for joining in once again. Next month will be the last giveaway for a little while and I feel a certain Parisienne sensation coming over me..........Au Revoir!
Blessings Michelle xx

ReplyDeleteOh, Michelle - your flowers are wonderful. I'm not surprised you were fearful to start with. Don't they make such an impact on the quilt? There were a few Quilts like these at the Tas quilt exhibition, they look wonderful hanging on display.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations Maria! Your ruched flowers are beautiful Michelle and I know the fear. I am sewing "Thankful" by One Day in May and it has 3 dimensional flowers. I was lucky though and had a day with Melissa Kemp at Patchwork Teahouse showing how to make these flowers. PTH is well worth a visit( maybe in June?

ReplyDeleteCongrats Maria.... the ruched flowers are amazing... are those the ones where you start with a bias type strip and dots at equal lengths... I was watching someone make something similar recently... look fantastic all together on that quilt
