Dawn at "As sweet as Cinnamon" has been asking how we decided on our blog name. I complicated mine more than necessary and have always felt I should have changed it as I wanted to just called it after my design name of "Rag-tag Stitchin'" but friends said they couldn't find it as they were looking under my name so hence I have this dual type of identity....Michelle Ridgway Designs and Rag-tag Stitchin' But wait there is more I had to add a 1 to the blog name as there is a Antartic kayak explorer with my name spelt the same and heavens knows that ain't me. But thankfully you all have found me even if it was boring and supported me and become such dear friends.....so 'what's in a name?'
Blessings Michelle

Hello Michelle,
ReplyDeleteWe wouldn't want to get you mixed up with the explorer. Funny how two people with the same name have completly different hobbies. Lucky the other one is into something good too.
Have a great weekend.
Bev.xoxo
Too cold to sit there in the ice and snow and sew. Much better to be here and be you.
ReplyDeleteAnd I see you in another mag. Lovely stitching of gingerbreads - and on the cover.
Congratulations!
lovely story about how you got your name Michelle,i like it.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, a bit cold to try & stitch while kayaking in the Antartic. Those puffy gloves would play havoc with your stitches & that is definately not what a Rag Tag Stitchin design looks like. Great story! Tracee xx
ReplyDeleteIsn't that interesting , but I think I would find your blog much more interesting as kayaking in the Antartic is not something I have a desire to do ;-)Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteIf you look at the http:/// etc. you can see why I shortened my name to Quilting at the Cottage...I didn't realize that I'd still be here, otherwise, I'd have given my name a more simple life. A fellow blogger suggested I shorten my name, but still the http: is still there.
ReplyDeleteYou made a good choice in the name...no other Michelle Ridgeway...I checked!
Quite interesting, Huh?
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun story!! I used to own my domain name, had big plans for it, but now it belongs to a person who nice people would never visit, lol...argh.
ReplyDeleteI love hearing about how and why people picked their blog names!
ReplyDeleteMy blog originally had another name but very early in the piece I kept making reference to not getting out of my pyjamas all day when I was quilting and so my name was born!
You tried to hide from us... but we found you!
ReplyDeleteNo matter what name you go under, I'll follow!
Nice story though! :)
* Today I received "Christmas Fixin's"+they are so so delightful>I just knew they would be!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so Michelle, Linda,Montans
P.S.See 9-29 Post
A very interesting story, I've wondered why your blog name is different from your blog address - now I know.
ReplyDeleteIt's really interesting hearing how blog names are picked. Yours is nice and easy to remember.
ReplyDeleteI like the name you have picked. This is very interesting. I am going to see what other have said. Have a great weekend. Trish
