Tree Trimming

This year I have decorated for the season quite sparsely for yours truly.....
Frankly I was a bit low in energy and I was not going to go down the "should" highway.
Lots of my favourite pieces are easy to access and putting them out has filled me with joy.....like Heartwood Creek....all treasures because they were gifts.
My sweet Christmas Cherished Teddies always make me smile.
The tree is trimmed and it is laden with memories...
Decorations.....some old...
Some new!
So pretty and twinkly.
A favourite quilt is hung of course....
Christmas decorating just has to include my very old Nativity scene....the reason why we celebate! I have always loved it.
Friends come to mind too....my bloggy Christmas tree.

I hope you are enjoying taking time with your Christmas decorating too.

Christmas Greetings

I do love this time of year. I love sending things off on Santa's sleigh, wishing friends and family love and good wishes for the season.
Yesterday was one such an occassion. Lovely friends I stitch and share with every fortnight. For the first time in a very long time we were missing one....a family matter took her overseas. So we arranged ourselves in a pleasing manner for a piccie for her.
My secret Santa was the lovely Jacky.
My gift a beautiful crocheted knee rug.....gorgeous flowers....so I need never be cold when I venture to Victoria again lol!

Santa's little elves delivered a parcel in the post from dear friend Shez...
One of her lovely kitchen sets....this one all Christmasy....love them.
On Sunday a sweet little Angel came home with me....so gorgeous!
Such a beautiful gift from friend Susan from Susan's Sewing Space.
Another lovely friend  Susan from Kiwikid gifted me a cute as ever gingie button complete with sweeties in a thread catcher. Love my gifts...very spoilt! Thank you xxx
On Tuesday I had a visitor for the day and he helped me with the baubles on my Christmas tree....
I asked Grandson no2 why they were together on the same branch? Because, I was told "they are obviously twins and need to be together" Lol!
Loved these little touches of Christmas colour in my garden too.

What An Afternoon

Well settle in folks....this is a long post! Best get a cuppa...I always knew that I had wonderful friends but Sunday afternoon they showed me just how wonderful !
My dear Daughter suggested a couple of weeks ago that we try a new high tea venue....that's our thing you see. I was very happy and looking forward to going.
We set out for our treat and suddenly DD was driving into one of my favourite places Berrinba Sanctuary .....as a regular visitor I knew there was no high tea to be had there ? ?? I was ushered up to the room where I actually have my art classes .... inside this greeted me.
Confusion definitely reigned supreme at this point, especially when I saw these two girls sitting there.
My lovely friends Sue (kiwikid) from Victoria and Raewyn (stitching farmgirl) from New Zealand.....also friend Fiona (bubzrugz) from Toowoomba was there too.
Now perhaps like I was, you are wondering WHY?
Well it seems that secret squirrel tables were turned on me and these beautiful friends of mine lead by Robyn decided they would ignore my refusal of help to recreate my treasured quilt that was stolen last year and do it themselves....in secret! As a special gift to me.
My reaction .....something like this !
Yes unattractive tears! This beautiful quilt was laid in this gorgeous box with a beautiful heart and work pouches with the left over fabrics .
Now I have photographic evidence of the skullduggery that went on from Queensland to Victoria across to New Zealand across to Norway, Canada, Indiana and Hagerstown USA....of my goodness! Unbelievable !
Secret stitching meet ups....
Basting took place....
And beautiful hand quilting. ..
Warmed my heart to see my best friend Ann sewing some of the binding down...
Finally the finished work of "heart"
I cannot express what this act of friendship and love has meant to me.
There was also lots of laughter and chatting and selfies...
Finally I did stop crying....lol!
And of course in every group....you get a few...you know the ones I mean, but you love them anyway lol!
On a serious note my dear friend Robyn made this happen for me...thank you ! Thanks to my dear Daughter for playing her part and getting me there and not spilling the beans.
So through my happy tears I can say my quilt has come home....different because this one is infused with love, kindness and friendship....I am truly blessed!
Oh! I have made sure this one goes nowhere.....I have a friend sitting on it to make absolutely certain!
There is a footnote....Robyn had lovely little booklets made to chart their journey. It contains photos and the girls favourite quotes....they know that I love beautiful words. Except this time they rendered me speechless...pretty big feat!

No FNWF For Me

I had a lovely day yesterday up a mountain checking out my friends soon to be finished new home....the views are stunning!

Imagine some beautiful bubbles, a candle or two and this view from the end of your tub!
We travelled back down the mountain to the local village for a very nice lunch.
Lots of fun and laughter with my yoga sisters. A very enjoyable day despite the heat.
I didn't get to do any stitching for FNWF as not long after I arrived home I became really ill with a vertigo type attack...couldn't stand or lie down and the world wouldn't stop spinning.....horrible!!

Finally got some Stemetil to knock me out! I have low blood pressure normally and not sure whether it is connected! All I know is I didn't much like it!
Still feeling very ordinary today...erk!
Sorry to be such a killjoy.
I shall go for a visit to check out all your Friday night stitching when I feel better.

'Tis The Season

The Christmas Season has begun and I seem to have little reindeers in my head.
So I have put pen and pencils to paper and have a sweet little reindeer freebie to share with you for the festive season.
You will find it under my "Sketchpad" on my sidebar and he is free for you to download to stitch.
I hope he blesses you with as much joy as he did me when I was drawing him.
I have no stitching to share as I have really had need of pencils and paper of late.
So I thought I would bore you with a progress shot of my art WIP.....
We have sky and LOTS of rust! I always knew I loved rusty old things but it is interesting to be able to render some in coloured pencils. Can't wait to work more on sweet Major Mitchell but he will get all his finishing details done last. So more dirt, more rocks, bits of vegetation, loads of shading and some more rusty still to work on.
That's all from me today. I have the post office to visit and a Christmas tree to assemble.
