Good morning lovely people. I hope you are all safe and well.
We are staying at home except for the essential grocery run and I am picking up 2 of my Grandchildren from school. Both my Daughter and Daughter in Law are teachers and are required to keep turning up for work....when they would rather be home with their children and lessening our exposure to the virus. There are so many grey areas to all of this. So lots and lots of hand washing.....no cuddles and sitting apart have been happening. The kids have been so good about it all......but it is an anxious time for everyone.
I think like a lot of people the unsettling times have made me feel a bit scatty. The result..... jumping all over the place, doing a bit of this and a bit of that!
I did have a little win in that I found 2 strips of trellis fabric to add to what I had for my Wings border.....a little bit of making do and adding a red corner block has made it all work out. Happy dance!
The border will show up more when the cream border with the hexagon are added!
Some progress on basting the hexies as well.....
I have finished a Flowerville block and I am really pleased with how the threads and the Tilda fabrics have come together.
Lovely HELEN from Sunday Stitchers had a destash and offered some of her treasure to us.....I chose some lovely reproduction bits and pieces.
I came up with a plan to use some in making a simple basket quilt.....
First I drew up two candidates....
The winner was this one.
They have been lovely and relaxing to stitch. Whilst having a video chat and sewing morning with friend Fiona, she said " it would stop me becoming a basket case"....Lol! So that's this new quilts name "Basket Case"!
So throw in some drawing and you can see what I mean by unsettled lol!
I hope you are staying safe and finding ways to keep yourself occupied.
Take care all.
Namaste and blessings Michelle xxx
Everything looks lovely Michelle - I adored your flowerville when I saw it on Instagram & your basket case's are looking lovely too. Yes this is an unsettling time for us all - we have more clearer specific rules over here - basically stay home everyone except for Groceries, chemist or Dr's visits. Schools are all closed. Our road has never been this quiet before. I look forward to this all being in our past. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a hoot....love the name. Gorgeous Flowerville block. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great name for a basket quilt - well chosen! Hardest part is bordeom even with plenty to do around home; we can't just pop out for a coffee or to meet up with a friend.
ReplyDeleteLol, I love the name. Beautiful fabrics. Your Flowerville block isi absolutely gorgeous and your threads match perfectly with those fabrics. Keep well, keep smiling and enjoy your stitching projects.
ReplyDeleteYes "Scatty" is a good way to describe how many of us feel...
ReplyDeleteSew good to have our hobbies. Great you found some trellis fabric for the border ...
The Tilda fabrics and CG threads go together really well.
Perfect name for the baskets. How good to have a video chat with Fiona.
Thank you Michelle, that is so reassuring. I am also quite 'scatty' and can't settle to anything much - despite having a long list of things to do, enjoyable or otherwise. What a nice group of fabrics, and great idea for a sweet quilt. xo
ReplyDeletelooking through the comments so many of us are being a bit scatty and unsettled.... it really is a stressful time. so lucky to have the creative things happening … it is good to focus on other things.. the more the merrier! love the different projects...

That was a great find Michelle. How big are your baskets? Great name. xx
ReplyDeleteWe all need to do your ''basket case'' so we don't become a basket case. They are very nice will make a pretty quilt. Me just being silly.
ReplyDeleteThank you Trish. I have posted a little template on my most recent post...cheers x
DeleteI think we are all a lot unsettled at the moment. That was good luck to find more lattice fabric. Your baskets will look lovely all together.
ReplyDeleteLucky find on the trellis fabric.
ReplyDeleteThat Fiona has a quirky sense of humour!
Well done finding the trellice fabric! Wonderful. Your baskets look amazing.
ReplyDeleteVery normal to feel anxious. I think that was me last week. As an ex-teacher I really feel for those who are still at the front line. It is a hard job at the best of times but with the added concerns of the virus the job must be extremely stressful. I bet they both appreciate you taking on responsibility for the children.
ReplyDeleteYou probably know our schools took early holidays and I think there is a bit of discussion about planning to teach remotely for the whole of next term. Time will tell.
It is going to be an interesting time of make do. It will test our creativity and maybe make us more adventurous. So pleased you found enough border fabric. And I love the result with the Flowerville block.
The baskets look great.
10 years from now, when you look at your "basket case", you will remember this horrid time.
ReplyDeleteNo more school pickups for us for now, told to stay at home, with only the occasional "food run". I feel for people without hobbies.
Keep safe!
xx
Keep safe
Aren't we lucky to have such an absorbing 'hobby' to keep us occupied and settle our minds. I'm not sure what is happening here with teachers who have children to care for but your family is so lucky to have your help. So far there are 6 cases in Northland and we are hoping that this lock down has happened soon enough to prevent too many more turning up. I love your playing around. The Flowerville is absolutely gorgeous!! And great border for your Wings and Things. Very cute baskets - like Fiona's comment about basket cases - very relevant!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the basket. It is cute as anything. So is the other one you didn't pick. =)
