We are staying at home except for the essential grocery run and I am picking up 2 of my Grandchildren from school. Both my Daughter and Daughter in Law are teachers and are required to keep turning up for work....when they would rather be home with their children and lessening our exposure to the virus. There are so many grey areas to all of this. So lots and lots of hand washing.....no cuddles and sitting apart have been happening. The kids have been so good about it all......but it is an anxious time for everyone.
I think like a lot of people the unsettling times have made me feel a bit scatty. The result..... jumping all over the place, doing a bit of this and a bit of that!
I did have a little win in that I found 2 strips of trellis fabric to add to what I had for my Wings border.....a little bit of making do and adding a red corner block has made it all work out. Happy dance!
Some progress on basting the hexies as well.....
I have finished a Flowerville block and I am really pleased with how the threads and the Tilda fabrics have come together.
First I drew up two candidates....

Everything looks lovely Michelle - I adored your flowerville when I saw it on Instagram & your basket case's are looking lovely too. Yes this is an unsettling time for us all - we have more clearer specific rules over here - basically stay home everyone except for Groceries, chemist or Dr's visits. Schools are all closed. Our road has never been this quiet before. I look forward to this all being in our past. xx

ReplyDeleteThat's a great name for a basket quilt - well chosen! Hardest part is bordeom even with plenty to do around home; we can't just pop out for a coffee or to meet up with a friend.

ReplyDeleteVery normal to feel anxious. I think that was me last week. As an ex-teacher I really feel for those who are still at the front line. It is a hard job at the best of times but with the added concerns of the virus the job must be extremely stressful. I bet they both appreciate you taking on responsibility for the children.
ReplyDeleteYou probably know our schools took early holidays and I think there is a bit of discussion about planning to teach remotely for the whole of next term. Time will tell.
It is going to be an interesting time of make do. It will test our creativity and maybe make us more adventurous. So pleased you found enough border fabric. And I love the result with the Flowerville block.
The baskets look great.
10 years from now, when you look at your "basket case", you will remember this horrid time.

Aren't we lucky to have such an absorbing 'hobby' to keep us occupied and settle our minds. I'm not sure what is happening here with teachers who have children to care for but your family is so lucky to have your help. So far there are 6 cases in Northland and we are hoping that this lock down has happened soon enough to prevent too many more turning up. I love your playing around. The Flowerville is absolutely gorgeous!! And great border for your Wings and Things. Very cute baskets - like Fiona's comment about basket cases - very relevant!
