Serious Post

Sunday my family and I got up early to drive into Suncorp Stadium for the beginning of the Longest Melanoma March and to support Jay Allen, melanoma survivor and who is walking from Brisbane to Sydney in 29 days to raise critical funds for research and clinical trials to beat our national cancer.

As some of you know our son is undergoing treatment at the moment for Melanoma after he had a recurrence of the disease at Christmas. He has received incredible emotional support from Jay and wanted to help in his goal.
So he joined Jay yesterday to walk with him on one leg of his journey.
Lucas is wearing the sunnies. He walked 28kms and raised over $2,700 exceeding his target of $1,000. We are very proud of him and so thankful to all those wonderful people who donated. Mr. R. and I  went to meet them when they came in.

They made really good time and were very glad of a break for Jay and a finish for the other 3. I  as a Mum was extremely happy to see my boy in one piece!
Emotional farewell to Jay as he continues his journey....
Off he goes again, Sydney bound.....
So if you see Jay and the team along the way....give them some encouragement!
On the home front I made a decision that for me Splendid Sampler blocks are as done as they are going to be and while working on a final layout I have begun to sew some blocks together.

It feels good to have made a start on getting it finished.
The March colour for Rainbow Scrap Challenge is a favourite.....beautiful RED!
So made my block....just waiting to find a little time to applique a butterfly on this block.
I hope you are enjoying your day.
Namaste and Blessings Michelle xxx

  11. How proud you must be of Lucas and the rest of the walkers. Cancer is such a terrible thing, and affects so many, so the researchers need all the help they can get.
