Indulge Me

The weather has been a bit ordinary in our favourite camping spot but relaxing is the name of the game and that is being achieved....
Reading and stitching ......
Or just watching the locals going about their day.....

Our Son has finished his part of the Tour de Cure 2018 ride. He rode from Mackay to Midge Point through to Airlie Beach and had the most amazing and emotional experience. These photos are for my book of memories.
Beginning Day 1

Some of Lucas Mentors....he rates them fairly highly because trying to find motivation to train when you have had treatment that week or worked a full week was at times challenging.

And his destination and goal achieved!

Very proud of our boy and our family. Supporting him in lots of different ways.
Lucas said several moments stood out.....a little boy hugging him and giving $30 donation from his classmates. Giving a young cancer survivor is TDC wristband and having his wife and kids there to see him finish! They are now heading north on a bit of a holiday and then will be there to cheer the team in to Cairns at the finish.
So if you see the Tour de Cure team up north give them a toot of gratitude or better still thow some pennies their way!

Little People

Yesterday was Anzac Day. A special day of rememberance for Australians and New Zealanders of those of our armed forces that lost their lives in war and conflict .
I was very proud of my Grandchildren who all marked the occassion at school ceremonies.....our eldest Grandson sang in the choir and played in the band.
And our youngest Granddaughter laid the rememberance wreath, made by her classmates at the school service.
Great job!
Our oldest Granddaughter is having a special birthday today and as she is away we had an extra early cake for her.

Miss C is a lover of unicorns and all things Bling** and part of her gift was a unicorn shoulder bag.....
Its a big hit and has gone on her trip with her and is appearing in all her photos lol!
I am taking a little blogging break.....have packed a few supplies.
Tomorrow also our Son begins his 2 legs of the Tour de Cure from Mackay.
He and the team have trained extremely hard and I wish them a safe and successful ride. I am a very proud and nervous Mumma!
To all of you wonderful and generous friends and family who have donated and supported Lucas in his bid to raise funds for Cancer research through this ride....a huge heartfelt thank you.
If ordinary people do little things with great love, amazing feats can be accomplished!
See you all in a bit.

Angel Blocks Done!

My April UFO CHALLENGE  was No.9 and my Angel  Story blocks.....
The last two blocks have been completed. Sweet pair of hearts.
And FRAN'S FLYING SCHOOL....so I just snuck in before our next number draw.

I laid out the blocks.....as you do  but they don't look much without all their sashings and little squares......
With the several that I have together, I am excited to see it all assembled.
Next months UFO no. is....
But my list is looking a bit of a mess lol!
Because I was a bit easy on myself on my list and got some things completed....so spaces have appeared. No. 7 is Angel Story again but as rotary cutting is out for me for awhile.....a little fudging may have to happen. Or I may have a holiday and please myself lol! But it will have to be more hand work.
I have loved doing this challenge and it has really helped me focus on what I had squirreled away and get some kind of order with my projects.
Well I do hope you have understood all that waffle lol!
There is also a post HERE on my Art Blog if you want to visit.

FNSI

Thanks to WENDY from Sugarlane Designs for hosting our April bloggy get together.
I was not feeling great so had a very early night. I did however have a Fri-DAY morning sew in.
I had a teeny bit left on Angel Story block Sarah to stitch.....all done!
I also have wanted to try out a one colour variable to use on a new stitchery. Somewhere in the cobwebs of my mind I remembered one of you clever stitchers using DMC 840. So I tried it out.....
And I really liked it and will be perfect for what I wanted.
The other thing I wanted to sort was a border dilemma on my design "Wings and Pretty Things".....I am happy with that decision too.....ready to get back to shortly.
Happy weekend all.

Rainbow Scrap Challenge

It has taken me a little while to get to my April blocks for Rainbow Scrap Challenge. This month it's YELLOW. ANGELA at So Scrappy gives us our colour each month.
My blocks of choice are circles.
I was so happy to use that gorgeous bee fabric. I acquired that when I was looking to add to a giftie for my good mate FIONA for her special day. I do love a theme lol!
I have forgotten to share my foray back into doing a little cross stitch. It has been years since I had done any....so I stitched a bee themed sewing book...
I chose the "Queen Bee" because my friend is the Queen Bee of quilting!  So I was thrilled when I found these Bee fabrics to go with it.
Of course being a fan of bees, some had to 'bee' for me too. I enjoyed the cross stitch and I think I may do a little more of it at some stage.
This week I have been in whingey whiner mode as I have had a misbehaving tooth and still have pain in my shoulder....needle tomorrow hopefully that will help!
But I can still sew and draw...no rotary cutting but stitching.....so Angels are still moving along at a nice enjoyable pace.
Sarah is getting some stitchery attention.....
I just had to give her hot pink specs....after all we quilters are hip and happening....even if our hips have already happened lol!
In my garden the orchids just keep coming.....

These were on the ground this morning. I suspect my fat bottomed Mum possum is the culprit....so I popped them in a vase so as  not to waste their beautiful blooms.
That's all from me....enjoy your Thursday.

Monday, April 16, 2018

Good morning folks. I wasn't sure which blog to post this on as it's relevant to art and stitching. On Friday I did my roster at the Logan Art Gallery for the Queensland Wildlife Artist's Society Exhibition. I did a bit of demonstrating.
And whilst there had some lovely visitors.
You may know this lady...
Chooky from CHOOKYBLUE popped in to see me and the exhibition......so very nice to spend some time having a good old natter. Also extremely lovely of Chooky to come out of her way to come visit on her Commonwealth games journey.
My Grandies came also to check out what I was doing.....it must have been riveting going by the concentration on their faces lol! Thanks family xx

Chooky recently organised and hosted with a friend a retreat at Barrandine in NSW. The lovely SUSAN from Susan's Sewing Space arranged for the retreaters and a couple of extras to make a block each from this pattern.
As a surprise for Chooky....she told me she was thrilled to bits with all the blocks and gave me permission to share them and my block. So here we are....some of you will have already seen them.
All the blocks gathered....
And my little block who I think was called Helga....
Very cute chooks! And perfect for a lady who loved this pattern and loves chooks!
I have finished 2 more Angel Story blocks.
TILLIE The Tealady.
And CHARLOTTE The Shopper.
Sarah the Quilter is ready for stitchery and the last block is all cut out....nearly there!
I received some lovely mail too.....I had ordered a new book and it had sold out....so I was waiting.....patiently....no not really....for it to come back into stock.....yay!
Well that's what I have been up to.
Enjoy your day.
