Nice Post

I gave myself a little treat and they arrived today...
I wanted some more special pretties to work with on my Crazy patch quilt...oh except for the Mistletoe!
No guesses there what that's for.
Stitching wise I have been doing a bit of embroidery to finish off  a couple of completed blocks on my new project.... keeps me from getting bored.
Speaking of stitching. I forgot a couple of quilts from the Toowoomba show! Senior Moment!
I really love this version of a Bronwyn Hayes design worked in navy and cream. it was stunning in real life.
The colours in the next one were so soft and creamy...
This one was one of my favourites on the day so I cannot believe that I forgot it.
Ever had a "bad hair" day well apparently little owls do too.....
It was entered in the Owl challenge and is the work of fellow blogger Christine from Bluebirds and Bumblebees  I think it is so sweet. Gave me quite a giggle.
I shall leave you with a few feathered friends from yesterday....
and who could leave out the 'chippy thieves'....

Our Beautiful Bay

We have cured our cabin fever with a drive to Redcliffe one of our Bayide suburbs across the Brisbane river.  Now I warn you lots of photos...you know I just cannot post one! It was a glorious, sunny day and the bay looked a picture.
There were also markets on the esplanade...
Mr R. and I had a lovely casual lunch here..
With views across the road to the bay. After which we went to view what we really came to see...
We have always been huge fans...
It is quite nicely done and the photographs are wonderful...quite a trip down memory lane...of course like all teenage girls I really fancied Barry Gibb!
This Mr R. tells me this the first Bee Gees Album that he bought.

The bronze statue of the boys as youngsters is very sweet with a lovely poem written I think by Barry at their feet.
All those yellow plaques are their songs...
A really lovely tribute to them and the place where they started.
We had quite a nice wander through one of the parks and the natives were really putting on a show.
The local residents were having an enjoyable day too...
On the way home folks were flying kites...
We had such a lovely time.....we even bought home some goodies from the markets. Some verrrry good and some....well a bit naughty!
Naughty but oh so nice!
I hasten to add that I am NOT responsible for the cupcakes!
I hope you have enjoyed your Sunday doing something that you love to do.

Toowoomba Quilters Quilt Show

As promised a wee taste of the lovely quilts Fiona and I saw yesterday.
This first one was amazing. The maker gave all her friends a block and permanent markers and asked them to design a block. The result was beautiful. We thought the design was in the fabric.
EPP! Of course I loved it!
This quilt was so rich in colour and very pretty. My photo does not do it justice.
The little red corners on the blocks are cathedral windows...very striking!
This one was just so sweet! There was also a display of small art hangings. Two of them I really loved. This one with the Foxgloves...
and this little beauty with the spiderweb...
The club had a challenge using two fabrics and an owl theme. Our very own Fiona had the loveliest entry.
I really liked it before i even knew it was hers as there were no names attached to them....
There is a little story on the back...
Wonderful display!
You know being a stitcher is a journey. Whether you have just stepped on to the path or you have been wandering along it for ages. It doesn't matter. If our hearts and minds are open we can always learn something new or be inspired by another. Being a stitcher is a wonderful thing and we should embrace each others efforts and creativity and celebrate that fact.
So Bless all of my lovely fellow stitchers out there "may your thread be plentiful and your needles sharp"
Thank you to my lovely sister in stitching Fiona for a fabulous day!

Teapot Extravaganza

Today was the loveliest of days and it is so true when they say the company that you keep makes all the difference. Today I drove up to visit my dear friend Fiona in Toowoomba. You see we have this annual playdate to visit the sweet little Teapot exhibition and the Toowoomba Quilters Quilt show.
After hugs it is straight off for a hit of coffee and some delicious scones...
Beautiful aprons surround you whilst you have your Devonshire tea. Fiona is always such a lady.
Note the Twinings pinkie there. Yours truly was just hanging out to try out those scones...
We then set out to look at all the beautiful displays of teacups and teapots. Around the room are many vintage teatowels....showing my age in the fact I actually recognise some of them.
Warning lots of piccies!!!!
Lots of pretty teacups...oooh! Cute teapots......loved the plum pudding!
and then you have the "beautiful blues"....
Oh and the "pretty pinks"...
and then we got a bit silly.....overwhelmed by all this gorgeousness...so selfies in the mirror took place...
More teatowels...
There were also sweet little mini sets...
There were also some lovely vintage items....loved this little one.
We then headed off to the quilt show ( I will post tomorrow about that) and a delicious lunch was had at
"The Engineroom". A wander through the Antique store next door finished off the day beautifully.
I was battered by a ferocious storm on the way home....bit hairy! But as I reached the turnoff to home and was stuck in traffic a beautiful rainbow reminded me what a fabulous day I had had with a dear friend.
Thank you so much Fiona. You are definitely the 'hostess with the mostest' xxx

FHFS and Goodie Bags

My little "Christmas Goodie Bags" are all written up and in pattern form now.
There are 3 different stitcheries...
The cost of the pattern is $14.00 AUS plus postage for overseas customers. Just email me if you are interested. Don't forget the other new releases too!

FHFS
I belong to a lovely group of ladies and our most recent swap was 'spots' you may remember the parcel I sent off.
Well it has arrived on the doorstep of my dear friend Cheryl. As soon as I knew she was my partner I just had to work the spots into something "Christmas" as we both suffer from the same condition.....very sad! We are both big fans of Christmas decorating. The following photos are borrowed from Cheryl's lovely blog as some silly forgot to take photos before she wrapped up the parcels...
A little Frosty snoozing in a skate wall hanging....
Spotty fabrics, spotty sweets, a spotty notepad.
A little needle book (spotty background) spotty buttons and ribbon...
and lastly a spotty bookmark and a big 'spot' one of my new Christmas ornies.
This has been such a fun swap and I found myself seeing spots everywhere I went. Next one...on to some Christmas parcels!!! Thanks Cheryl for the loan of the photos.
Yesterday I had a quiet day really trying to make some progress on my new project. As I hate daytime TV..you know what I mean (funeral and accident insurance, actually any kind of insurance and worse) I usually watch a DVD. Do you have a favourite book that was made into a movie?

Mine is "Out of Africa" by Isak Dinesen. I loved the book and adore the movie...oh and the music!
Besides what's not to love ....Robert Redford and Meryl Streep!
So that was my choice yesterday....of course the moment I hear the beautiful soundtrack the eyes mist over.
It was just lovely sitting stitching and enjoying the beautiful photography and story. I got 2 blocks appliqued and so today as I am stitching with friends I thought I would finish the stitchery on them.
Have a  lovely day all, I must fly. Loved this beautiful graphic from The Crystal Castle...
